TO say we had a fantastic weekend at the National Schools’ Regatta would be a slight understatement!

Will Buckingham and Conall Comley won a Silver medal after placing 2nd in the J18 boys double.

Holly Burke and Mia Gray also made the finals after placing 12th out of 30.

Craig Ward, Head of Rowing at King’s Ely, said: “The National Schools’ Regatta saw our Senior rowers take to Eton Dorney for the first race since January 2020. To see our rowers race so well was testament to their hard work and perseverance during the lockdowns.

“To see Mia and Holly make the finals after a testing time trial was fantastic and despite a tough lane due to the crosswind, they dug deep and kept in contention. The boys’ double of Conall and Will showed awesome power and control to come 4th at the 1,000 metre mark, resulting in them finishing 2nd at the line.

“It was amazing to see racing take place again after so long away and I am so pleased with how all four students handled the day. For King’s Ely to medal at the National Schools’ Regatta against some of the biggest rowing schools in the country cannot be underestimated. I am so proud of the students for their performances on the day and their dedication over the last three years.”

Congratulations King’s Ely Boat Club – we are all on cloud nine!
