Warning - these photos feature some VERY muddy children!
In this 'Bonkers for Conkers' themed Forest School session at King's Ely Acremont Pre-Prep, a group of our Reception children put on their wellie boots and waterproofs, and ventured down to the bottom of the garden to see what Ms Harriet Gervasio, our Deputy Head, had planned.
The children used conker clamps and palm drills to create holes in conkers in order to then make lots of different creations, such as jewellery, tree decorations, and spiders!
Ms Gervasio said: "Using tools like this encourages fine motor development, hand-eye coordination, and confidence with practical making. It also helps children engage more closely with seasonal changes, loose parts play, and creative outdoor learning."
Where there had been some heavy rainfall, the children were quick to seek out some puddles and let their imaginations run wild in the muddier-than-usual mud kitchen.
Your children might look immaculate when they arrive at Acremont Pre-Prep in the morning, but we cannot guarantee they will be pristine when you collect them in the afternoon. Sorry not sorry!
