OUR Year 10 to 13 rowers competed in their first race of the year on October 13th – the Bedford Small Boats Head. Despite the dreary, wet conditions all students were in good spirits.
The Year 10 boys’ quad of Will Biggs, Gabriel James, Dan Millard, Vakaris Tamosaitis and Max Hamberger produced a powerful row to finish 2nd in their category – just 3 seconds behind the winning crew!
Our Year 10 doubles steered well down a technical course and recorded some strong times.
The Senior squads raced twice over the 2,000m course. The Year 11 girls’ quad of Mia Gray, Cherry Brown, Issy Boutwood and Annie Moore had a strong row and finished 4th behind some very strong crews.
Holly Burke raced well back to back in J17 and J18 women’s singles, finishing 3rd in the J18 category.
Conall Comley, Will Buckingham, Sam Martin and Hector Macdonald raced in J16 singles – arguably the strongest category of the day – and finished 6th, 7th, 8th and 12th out of 16 crews.
Well done all – let’s hope it’s a drier day when we return to Bedford next month!
