KING’S Ely’s Year 9-13 Rowers raced at the Bedford 4’s and 8’s Head on February 10th.

The first races of the day took place in cold and very wet conditions but it didn’t deter the J18 Boys’ Quad of Alex Millard, Will White, Will Buckingham and Conall Comley putting in a strong row to finish 4th out 8.

The J18 Girls’ Quad of Holly Burke, Holly Lancaster, Rebecca Garrett and Rahera Greatrex produced a strong row to record a quick time.

The Year 10 Boys’ Quad of Will Buckingham and Conall Comley, who raced in the J18 Quad earlier in the day, combined with Hector Macdonald and Sam Martin to finish 6th out of 9. The Year 10 Girls’ Quad put in a much-improved row despite a tricky course.

One of the highlights of the day came from our Year 9 squad. The 2x Year 9 Boys’ Quads came 2nd and 6th respectively out of 16 – an excellent result in a highly competitive category.

The Year 9 Girls’ Quad finished in a strong 4th place out of 9 to complete the day.

Head of Rowing at King’s Ely, Craig Ward, said: “It was a great experience and our first marker against a higher standard of opposition. It proved to be a very productive day despite the challenging weather.”
