OUR ‘Concerto and Choral Concert’ which was held at Ely Cathedral before the Easter break was such a memorable occasion.

We were delighted to welcome musician, Peter Esswood, as our Conductor for the evening. Peter’s illustrious career includes being Cellist for the Royal Opera House and BBC Symphony Orchestra, and being Head of Strings at Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama.

Seven concerto movements were performed by students Lily McCallum, Lauren Booth, Lauren Peck, Sam Trueman, Sayuri Okunushi, Thomas Allen and Sophie Hillier. Our Chapel Choir and Chamber Choir also performed some seasonal items.

Helen Briggs, Head of Academic Music at King’s Ely Senior, said: “This concert really was something quite special. The standard of playing demonstrated by the soloists was outstanding. All of them stepped up to another level and I hope the memory of the concert is something they will treasure for many years to come. We are so proud of them and they should be commended for their preparation, professionalism and overall musicianship.”

Next up is our Spring Concert on Friday 6th May! Join us for a wonderful evening of music performed by our ensemble groups. The fun starts at 7pm in the Hayward Theatre. Tickets are free and can be booked in advance via the King’s Ely Box Office: www.kingsely.org/news-events/box-office/ – everyone is welcome.
