KING’S Ely welcomed three practitioners from the fantastic Polka Theatre on May 14th to lead three groups of Year 6 King’s Ely Junior pupils in devising, rehearsing and performing a Shakespeare ‘Play in a Day’. This was no easy feat and the children were certainly put to the test!

Director of Drama and Theatre, Nick Huntington, said: “Alan Clarke, Del Taylor and Beckie Mills were truly inspirational and helped create interesting and theatrical scenes – each telling a plotted version of Shakespeare’s three chosen texts.

“This was a first for King’s Ely Junior and a huge amount of fun and challenge was had, especially when the pupils had to join up the three stories and perform them in front of each other. Having only had the chance to run through them once, they then had to perform in front of an excited and intrigued audience of friends and family.

“The pupils performed with confidence and enthusiasm, dressed in special ‘Play in a Day’ T-shirts and all three stories went down a storm. Congratulations Year 6 – you were all brilliant!”
