YEAR 3 and Year 8 pupils at King’s Ely Junior came together for their first ‘Buddy Break Time’ on September 10th.

King’s Ely Junior Teacher and Housemistress of Goodwin, Mrs Petherick, said: “Our Year 8 and Year 3 pupils all shared their first Buddy Break Time together out in the Year 3 and 4 Courtyard. This gave all of the children the chance to get together and discuss the first few days of term.

“The shining sun was almost as bright as all the smiles on the children’s faces as they sat and chatted, played tag and enjoyed the odd cookie. Being a Buddy is one of the things that our Year 8 students look forward to and we know the friendships formed with their Year 3 partners will last much longer then their time in Junior School.

“It gives our older pupils a chance to help and support our youngest members, ensuring that they have a great first year at Junior School too. Throughout the term they will share assemblies with them, walk them to and from House meetings and occasionally, cathedral.

“Our Buddy scheme gives our Year 8 students the responsibility they have earned as heads of the school and our Year 3 children the security of knowing that there is always someone who is going to be there for them and help them if they need it.”

Well done all!
