IN Science, Year 4 King’s Ely Junior pupils have been studying the topic of sound.

Last Monday and Tuesday, the children had their Science lessons at Ely Cathedral instead of the classroom and labs to experience sound in action when the organ is played!

KS2 Science Co-ordinator, Dr Ailbhe Duane, said: “Mr Aldhouse, Assistant Organist and Director of the Ely Cathedral Octagon Singers, demonstrated how the organ works by showing pupils the much smaller chamber organ, which was in the high altar. Pupils put their learning into practice and investigated how to change the pitch of a note in the organ.

“We all thoroughly enjoyed this visit and learned a great deal on how sound and Science is all around us. We would like to thank Mr Aldhouse for enabling the visit to take place.”
