WE are thrilled to have received these photos from the team at Hope Hockey Skills Foundation in Uganda!

Pupils, families and staff at King’s Ely Junior have been collecting as many unrequired hockey sticks and equipment as possible to send to the charity, which was founded in 2010.

The foundation is a player development programme for boys and girls aged 3-19, which teaches hockey skills and life skills from beginner level through to elite competition level; elevating their chances of acquiring academic scholarships within Africa and overseas. The programme focuses on skills development, education, discipline, teamwork, accountability, leadership, integrity and character-building, to equip athletes with the appropriate skills needed to succeed, not only in hockey/sports but also in life.

Below are the items we donated:

25 used hockey sticks
4 used hockey stick bags
5 used hockey balls
2 packs of Haribo Starmix sweets
1 stopwatch
12 new hockey balls
6 medium blue bibs
6 medium red bibs
6 large yellow bibs
6 large orange bibs
12 black whistles
2 packs of hockey stick grips
2 packs of Covid-19 self-test kits

Thank you so much to everyone who helped make this happen – we look forward to hearing how the children and young people’s skills develop over the coming weeks and months!
