TWO King’s Ely athletes will be representing Cambridgeshire at this year’s Cross Country Championships.

More than 300 students from across the region flocked to King’s Ely on January 14th when the school hosted the Cambridgeshire Cross Country Championships. Athletes from schools across the Isle of Ely, Cambridge, Huntingdon and Peterborough areas took part.

The highlights for King’s Ely were from Sixth Form student Carlotta Rosenthal, who finished 12th in the Senior Girls’ race, and from King’s Ely Junior pupil Robert Banwell, who finished 9th in the Junior Boys’ race, meaning they both qualified to represent Cambridgeshire in the county races in February.

Head of Athletics at King’s Ely, Jim Thompson, said: “Well done to not only Carlotta and Robert but to all of the students for running so well on the day and to the staff for giving up their Sunday to help run such a successful event.”
