THREE members of the King’s Ely Climbing Club – Mikey Turner, Rebecca Garrett and Natsuko Noguchi – enjoyed clear blue skies over the Peak District at the weekend as they worked towards completing their Level 2 Climbing.

This level develops the skills required to become a competent seconder in the traditional lead climbing system, and requires climbers to manage themselves and gear whilst mid route, lead belay and set up safe belay systems at the top of routes.

Director of Outdoor Education at King’s Ely Senior, Sophie Cheng, said: “The students spent both days at the iconic grit-stone rock face, Stanage Edge, and despite the chilly winds, they all succeeded in progressing and developing their skills. They were even placing their own passive protection in the rock by the end of the weekend – well done team!”
