MEMBERS of the King’s Ely Bouldering Squad competed at the Bristol Bouldering Championships over the weekend.

There were a challenging set of 30 problems for the climbers to complete, with some interesting test pieces.

The Junior climbers performed well, completing their qualifying round with respectable scores – Ben Biggs finishing 6th, Tom Biggs finishing 8th place and Rhys Phillips in 10th place overall in the Junior category.

The older boys, Charlie Watson and Henry Rintoul, were competing as Seniors against members of the GB Bouldering Team, and finished with scores of 190 and 180 respectively.

Director of Outdoor Education at King’s Ely Senior, Sophie Cheng, said: “Well done to all the squad, who put in maximum effort over the competition and even managed a second day of training at the Climbing Academy before skin and forearm strength gave out!”
