SIX members of the King’s Ely Climbing Club headed to Derbyshire last weekend (September 28th-29th) to further their skills in lead climbing.

Sadly, the torrential rain didn’t hold off all weekend so the group headed indoors to The Foundry Climbing Centre and Awesome Walls Sheffield.

The students were working towards taking their first lead climbs, honing their movement and efficiency over log routes and even practicing lead falling, whilst standing alongside some of the UK’s greatest climbers, Ben Moon and Jerry Moffatt.

Well done to all the students who made great progress in their personal climbing – David Harris, Ben Biggs, Tom Biggs, James Schoenberg, Gabriel James and Michael Turner.

The Climbing Club is part of the Ely Scheme Outdoor Education offering at King’s Ely.
