Two junior boys at King’s Ely have secured their places in the Northampton Saints Developing Player Programme (DPP) U13 squad for rugby.

Billy McGrath, 12, and Mackenzie Pilkington, 13, have been rewarded for their consistent quality throughout the year for their school and their clubs by being offered a place in the programme.

The DPP is about developing all-round skills and potential as a rugby player and is one of the first steps towards developing talented players. It runs in partnership with the Eastern Counties programme and is part of the County player development scheme.

Jim Thompson, Head of Rugby at King’s Ely, remarked: This is a fantastic achievement by Billy and Mackenzie. Both players have shown great ability this season and it is extremely encouraging to hear that they have been rewarded with representative honours, which are greatly deserved. I am looking forward to promoting their progress and development over the coming years”.

Northampton Saints run six DPP’s, two in Eastern Counties and four in East Midlands.
