King’s Ely Acremont Pre-Prep did a magnificent job of leading our Whole School Mid-Term Service at Ely Cathedral.

Standing up and reading or singing to a large congregation, inside a building as huge as the Cathedral, is a daunting task for many adults. However, our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2 children did it with outstanding gallantry.

Acremont’s School Councillors and House Captains led the procession, some of our youngest pupils delivered the prayers and readings, and this year all of our Pre-Prep children sang ‘Love the Lord your God’ to the congregation.

As Valentine’s Day was just around the corner, this sentiment was extended to a theme of ‘Love thy Neighbour’, and the Service was aptly concluded with the hymn, ‘When I needed a Neighbour’.

Stephen Greenish, Teacher of Mathematics and Classics at King’s Ely Junior, is Ely Foodbank’s new Chairperson. Mr Greenish thanked our school community’s support for the Foodbank in recent years, and he spoke about the important role the Foodbank is playing in our local area as the cost of living crisis continues. We also prayed for the thousands of people affected by the Turkey-Syria earthquake.
