OUR Year 7 Geographers have been investigating how Ely High Street has changed over the last 12 months, including the types of shops and businesses there are now, the balance of independent and chain stores and planning how the High Street might fight back against internet shopping and other retail options that Ely residents and visitors have.

Operating in small year group safety bubbles, pupils worked hard to assess footfall and capture the current map of shops, and Mr Parkinson, Head of Geography at King’s Ely Junior, spoke to some local shop owners to get their opinions on the current status of the High Street.

Mr Parkinson said: “It was lovely to be out again doing some fieldwork in real life rather than virtually.”
