James achieved the A-Level grades that he needed to study Chemistry at Durham University.
James joined King's Ely Senior in Year 9 from St Faith's School, Cambridge. He studied Chemistry, Physics, Maths, and Further Maths for his A-Levels.
James was a Scholar and a Prefect.
We caught up with James after he received his A-Level results to find out more about his King's experience and what his next steps are...
James, what career path do you plan on pursuing?
I am still unsure what I will do after my degree. I hope to find a summer internship or experience which will help push me into the workplace, either in scientific research or finance.
What is the quality and style of teaching like at King’s?
The teachers at King's were always so willing to help. I was lucky enough to have some of my teachers for my entire time at King's, and this coupled with the smaller class sizes, allowed for a strong rapport with my teachers. I think this greatly enhanced my learning as there was a personal understanding on how I learnt as an individual.
What else did you participate in during your time at King’s?
I spent a lot of time in the Music Department and was Music Secretary in Year 13. I also completed my Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award. In Sixth Form, I was both a Prefect and a Scholar, I captained the 1st XI Boys' Hockey Team, and I played for both the 1st XI Cricket Team and the Golf Team.
What will you miss most about King’s and what did you enjoy most during your time here?
My fondest memories from my time at King's are of performing a saxophone concerto in Ely Cathedral accompanied by a professional orchestra, and playing with the professional live pit crew for the school musical 'Guys and Dolls'. Experiences like these are incredibly special, and for me, they are what make King’s such a unique place. More than anything, though, I will miss the people and the atmosphere - particularly in the Sixth Form. So many amazing opportunities are offered to you, all of which give you such invaluable experiences.
Describe King’s in three words!
Supportive, ambitious, vibrant.
