History Café is a shining example of how learning is extended beyond the classroom at every opportunity at King’s through our comprehensive co-curricular programme.

The initiative, which was launched in 2014, sees Teachers and sometimes Sixth Form students, presenting fascinating History-related talks regularly throughout the year. The discussions are attended by pupils in Years 9 to 13 who have a passion for History and a thirst for knowledge.

Mr Thistlethwaite is pictured here following his History Café talk last term. Entitled ‘George III – How “mad” and “bad” was he exactly?‘, Mr Thistlethwaite challenged traditional historical assumptions that George III was a poor King. He argued that our understanding of George III and his reign has largely been framed by hostile Whig accounts which have depicted him unfavourably.

The first History Café of the Lent Term will be hosted by Mr Lowery!
