KING’S Ely Senior student and Ely Cathedral Girls’ Choir member, Hannah Williams, has come up with a wonderful way to offer a little support to people who may be struggling with their mental health.

Hannah, who lives in Ely and who is in Year 9, is making and sending out ‘Smiles and Self-care Packages’, which contain a variety of items, including activities like word searches and crosswords, lip balm and hand cream, plasters, disinfectant wipes and alternatives to self-harm, a seashell from the beach, hand-made fabric bags containing beads to make a bracelet, and flower seeds with soil and a small plant pot.

Each package also contains a hand-written note with a picture drawn by Hannah. The packages are free and can be ordered for yourself or for someone you know who may be struggling.

Hannah’s mum, Amanda, supplied the funds to get her initiative off the ground and Hannah is now hoping to secure donations in order to continue sending out the packages to those in need. You can donate at: https://www.paypal.com/paypalme/smilepackages

Hannah has also set up Facebook and Instagram pages for her packages: https://www.facebook.com/smilepackagess/ and https://www.instagram.com/smile.packages/

What a fantastic idea Hannah – keep up the good work!
