A GROUP of our Year 11 and Sixth Form German-studying students headed to Berlin on the last day of the Michaelmas term.

The four-day pre-Christmas trip was organised by Melanie Hughes, Teacher of German and Spanish at King’s Ely, who is from Berlin.

Mrs Hughes said: “We all had a fantastic time finding out about the Cold War in the GDR and visiting most of the sights in Berlin. We stayed in the city centre and explored everywhere by foot and public transport. We walked 60km in four days!

“The students tried a variety of local foods and saw three Christmas markets. We also went ice skating and tobogganing. The students were in good spirits the whole time and it was a real pleasure to show everyone my home town.
