IT was not just our Nursery children who welcomed members of their family into school with open arms last week – Reception pupils at King’s Ely Acremont Pre-Prep did as well!

We have been unable to host our annual Grandparents’ Afternoon for Reception pupils for two years due to the pandemic, so this year’s event – split across two afternoons on March 24th and 25th – was a fabulous way to celebrate the fast-approaching Easter break.

The children were beside themselves with excitement to welcome their grandparents into Acremont – showing them around their classrooms, introducing them to their teachers and friends, and bringing them up to speed with all the different projects they have been working on.

Our VIP guests, who included aunties, uncles and other family members for children whose grandparents were unable to attend, were treated to afternoon tea and a wonderful performance of poetry and songs by the children in the school hall.

The performance celebrated elements of what Reception pupils have been learning this term and their fantastic, handmade animal-themed T-shirts and masks really showcased what a creative community Acremont is. Of course, the ‘Animal Boogie Grand Finale’ wouldn’t have been the same without the costumes either!

Thank you to all our grandparents and family members who were able to attend, to the children for remembering and delivering their lines so confidently, to our Reception Teaching Team for organising such a memorable occasion, and to Acremont’s Catering Team for the delicious cakes and refreshments!
