The children went in by two by two… Hurrah, hurrah!

King’s Ely Acremont Pre-Prep was like a scene from Noah’s Ark yesterday (March 28th) when our Reception pupils celebrated an annual highlight of the Lent Term – Grandparents’ Afternoon.

Reception have been investigating ‘Biodiversity: Exploring Biomes’ this term, so what better way to show their grandparents and other loved ones some of the fascinating things they have learnt than by dressing up as their favourite creatures and performing to them through storytelling, poetry and song!

The grown-ups sipped tea and devoured delicious cakes (thank you Debbie and Team!) while ‘Tiger’, ‘Fox’, ‘Whooper Swan’, ‘Ladybird’ and more read out some of the facts they have learnt about their chosen animal, bird or insect.

The children recited poems that they have been learning from ‘The Poetry Basket’ – the three they read were ‘Chop, Chop!’, ‘A Little House’ and ‘Furry, Furry Squirrel’. There were also some impressive singing voices and animal actions as they performed ‘Can an elephant live in a nest?’

Our special visitors were of course able to explore the Reception classrooms too and see some of the projects that the children have been working on. As ever, Grandparents’ Afternoon was a wonderful event celebrating everything that makes our Pre-Prep the magical place it is – a creative, enriched curriculum; confident, happy children; and an infectious family spirit. Thank you to everyone who was able to join us!

Our Reception classes are full for September 2023, although we do have a few spaces available for Year One.
