WE were delighted to welcome retired England Cricket player and ‘Cricket For Girls’ Head Coach, Lydia Greenway, into school yesterday (April 21st).

The sun shone brightly as Lydia, who played as a right-handed batter and occasional right-arm off break bowler, put girls and boys in Years 7-13 through their paces.

Lydia appeared in 14 Test Matches, 126 One Day Internationals and 85 Twenty20 Internationals for England between 2003 and 2016. She played county cricket for Kent and played in the 2016 Women’s Cricket Super League for the Southern Vipers.

Alex Meddle, Head of Cricket at King’s Ely, said: “Lydia has played for England over 200 times and was named the world’s best female cricketer in 2010. Lydia commented on how well behaved the pupils were and how much they played the game with a smile on their faces. A brilliant afternoon of cricket in the sun!”
