ELY Cathedral’s boy choristers set off on their eagerly-anticipated music tour of Estonia on July 10th.

Seventeen choristers, all of whom are pupils at King’s Ely, are taking part in the tour, which will include a very busy schedule of five performances in venues across a number of cities including Tallinn, Haapsalu and Parnu.

The tour will culminate in a concert at St Peter & St Paul Cathedral in Tallinn.

Many of the boys, all aged 9 to 13, have never been on tour before but most are used to performing in some particularly awe inspiring venues. Previous Choir Tours have included America, Canada, Spain, Norway and France, as well as special performances in Rome, Vienna and Budapest.

Despite the full-on schedule of rehearsals and performances, there is some time scheduled in for the choir to experience their surroundings, including visits to a museum and water park.

Director of Music at Ely Cathedral, Paul Trepte, is accompanying the choir. He said: “English choral music is highly regarded across the world and these tours enable us to bring choral music concerts to a global audience. It also gives the boys a great opportunity to perform in unusual venues and to spend some quality time together after a very busy and highly successful year.”
