CONGRATULATIONS to King’s Ely Sixth Form student, Eleanor MacGillivray, who has achieved more Maths success – this time qualifying for the second round of the prestigious British Mathematical Olympiad!

Eleanor, who is in Year 12, is one of around only 100 UK students to be invited to take part in the second round of the competition.

Eleanor will be taking on the second round – a 3.5 hour online challenge consisting of four very challenging mathematical problems requiring full written solutions – later this month (January).

She is hoping to qualify for the International Mathematical Olympiad Selection Camp, from where the UK International Mathematical Olympiad Squad is then chosen.

Eleanor’s latest success comes just months after she represented the UK in the Balkan Mathematical Olympiad (BMO). She was chosen following the Maths training camp that she attended at Trinity College in Cambridge, whilst still in Year 11. This made her one of the youngest students to be selected to represent the UK in the BMO.

Good luck in the competition later this month Eleanor – we are all rooting for you!
