KING’S Ely is delighted to be welcoming former pupil Darren Jeffery back to the school for an exclusive concert at the Hayward Theatre on Friday March 7.

Described as one of the finest Bass-Baritones of his generation, Darren has become well-known for his performances with the Royal Opera at Covent Garden and The English National Opera and has received two Grammy awards for his contribution to recordings with the London Symphony Orchestra.

The evening will also include solo pieces from King’s Ely Sixth Formers and songs by the school’s award-winning King’s Ely Barbers, much to the delight of Melody Day, Assistant Director of Music at the school: “We are very excited about Darren’s visit to King’s Ely and thrilled that he is giving an opportunity to some of our senior singers to share the concert platform with him. He is a truly inspirational role model for aspiring opera stars.”

The concert promises to be a wonderful opportunity to experience a world-class soloist alongside a new generation of talented singers who may go on to follow in Darren’s footsteps.

Tickets cost £15 and can be purchased from the school’s Box Office at music@kingsely.org or by calling 01353 653931.
