TO say our Chain Reaction event at King’s Ely Junior on November 16th was fun and energy-filled would be a slight understatement!

All of our Year 5 and 6 pupils – as well as some students from Robert Arkenstall Primary School, Isle of Ely Primary School, Mepal and Witcham Primary School and Ely St Mary’s Junior School – took part in the event in the Morbey Hall.

Nell Bond, Head of Key Stage 2 Mathematics and Enrichment and Extension Coordinator at King’s Ely Junior, organised the event.

Miss Bond said: “Pupils were tasked with working within an area and utilising the recycled and school materials in order to create a chain of energy which was transported from start to end.

“They had 1.5 hours to create, test and improve on their own chain reactions, as well as ensure that all items linked up to the other. Lots of collaborative STEM skills were put to the test that’s for sure!”

Well done everyone and thank you to our Cambridgeshire Educational Partnership schools for joining in on the action!
