“I first brought my daughter to Ely to audition for a place in the Cathedral Choir, and we were both very impressed with the boarding facilities for the Girl Choristers and the in-House pastoral care.

“When we were shown around the beautiful King’s Ely, everyone we came into contact with was friendly, helpful and eager to answer any questions, and my daughter was particularly taken with the Art and Design and Music departments.

“I was initially very worried about leaving her so far away from home but she settled in immediately and has made some lovely friends. Since joining King’s Ely in September 2018, my daughter has become much more independent and is taking responsibility for her own development. This has meant that she now has a more mature approach to her studies which shows in her excellent academic progress this year. For this, I have to give credit to the discipline, both of Choir and House, and the high expectations and standards of teaching.

“It took me six months to adapt to being without my daughter at home and to lose that constant feeling of wanting to take her back, but now I cannot imagine her being anywhere else. She is so happy and doing so well both academically and musically, and has even started showing a keen interest in sport, which she always found an excuse to avoid before! My child is thriving at King’s Ely and I am so glad we found the school.”
