WE had so much fun meeting families at The Chorister Experience at Ely Cathedral on May 22nd!

The event gave boys in Years 2 and 3 a taste of what life is like for The Choristers of Ely Cathedral Choir.

King’s Ely has educated Ely’s choristers for over 1,000 years and joining the Cathedral Choir continues to be a popular choice today for both girls and boys.

As many of you will know, several changes have recently been agreed jointly by the School and the Cathedral, which will come into effect over the next eighteen months.

The changes include boys and girls singing equal numbers of services from September 2022 and it no longer being compulsory for choristers to board at King’s Ely from September 2021. All choristers receive an award of 40% of the relevant day fee in each section (Junior or Senior, as appropriate).

These changes will help open the choristership door to more young singers, as well as bring regimes in line with many other UK Cathedrals.
