KING’S Ely Junior pupil Georgia Shields has enjoyed an impressive summer of Tennis.

During August and September, Georgia, from Soham, entered two tournaments and two match play events.

In the Bury and West Suffolk Tournament, she was placed third and in the Cambridgeshire Festival of Tennis (Junior County Closed), she was placed sixth.

In the JamieTennis Gosling Timed Tennis match play event, Georgia won four out of four games and in the Culford match play event, she also won four out of four games.

Since August, Georgia has moved from a 10.2 rating to a 9.2 rating. She needs one more win against a 9.2 or higher to become a 9.1. At the end of August, she moved from the 12u age group to 14u, and starts off ranked 16th in the county.

Georgia is also a member of the 10is Academy Performance Squad and assists with coaching younger players on Saturdays.

At Ely Tennis Club, Georgia competed in the Adult Mixed Doubles and Ladies Singles competition for the first time. She reached the semi-final in the Mixed Doubles and the final for the Ladies Singles. Georgia continued her impressive form by going on to win the Singles Championship, becoming the youngest player to win the Ladies’ title.

Congratulations Georgia!
