“Thank you for all your support for the Harvest Festival collection for the Foodbank and also for the Ice Cream, Lollipop and Book Sale last week. The children enjoyed the events very much. It was wonderful to hear that our offerings were so welcome by those receiving them at the Foodbank, and that over £450 had been raised in one breaktime last Friday!

“This week, in assemblies on Monday and Tuesday, I spoke about Social Responsibility and the ways in which, even as young children, our pupils can play their part and use their advantages to make a positive contribution to society. The children’s natural empathy and warmth shone through in the ways I know you would expect and so, as we introduced the Race For Life event this week, it was no surprise that the children were eager to raise as much as they could through sponsorship for Cancer Research UK and Gist Cancer UK. Sponsorship forms and some information has already been sent out. We look forward to welcoming many of you as spectators on the 20th October, when the children complete their races.

“Looking ahead to this weekend, our Choristers are excitedly preparing for their performance of Handel’s Messiah tomorrow evening. Their work is very much appreciated at school and for those of you able to enjoy the concert, we know you are in for a treat. Next week, we have our individual pupil portrait photographs being taken. Year 7 had theirs taken on the Orientation Day prior to the start of term but all other year groups will be captured on Thursday. On Friday I am looking forward to catching up with any of our Year 4 parents able to join me for coffee in the Monastic Barn from 8.45am that morning.”
