“’EDUCATION is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world’ is one of the statements we examined in our assembly on Monday morning this week, when we learnt more about Nelson Mandela and thought about how we can work towards our aspirations for a world where injustices are overcome.

“The reflective theme for the week continued when we reached our Cathedral Service on Thursday, when we thought about what it means to develop our spiritual awareness. Throughout our shared times in assemblies and at Cathedral, cementing a sense of community and togetherness is always key.

“On the wall near the Year 5 classrooms we have a new mural reminding us of our duties to self and others. Quotations on the wall range from Buzz Lightyear’s ‘The important thing is that we stick together!’ through to Michelle Obama’s ‘Don’t let your hardships and failures discourage or exhaust you, let them inspire you. Let them make you even hungrier to succeed’.

“We have certainly enjoyed another positive and energy-filled week in King’s Ely Junior. With assessments featuring for many children in the first half of the term, these quotes and the attitudes we hope they help us foster and nurture day by day, will be on display.

“We hope that the weekend will offer the children an opportunity to rest ahead of all that is planned for next week… or should that be for ‘infinity and beyond’?”
