“DESPITE the disappointments following the extension of restrictions, it has nevertheless been refreshing to see so much activity in school over the last few days.
“Bouncing back from setbacks or disappointments was the theme of assembly this morning. I cited the example of the rugby player Kyle Sinckler, who was initially not selected for the Lions squad to tour South Africa this summer. He tweeted: “Not a time to feel sorry for myself and blame others”.
“Despite his obvious disappointment he was remarkably stoical and used his setback as a springboard to learning and improving. At school, pupils face setbacks ranging from a disappointing exam result to missing out on the lead role in a play. Learning to react is the challenge we all face.
