“IT has been a demanding week for all those taking their GCSE and A Level assessments. We certainly should not underestimate the pressure that so many are experiencing.

“However, walking around school on Thursday morning was a delight. It was lovely to see so many of those same pupils hitting tennis balls, bowling in the cricket nets, swimming lengths or out playing on the new outdoor basketball court. Other pupils were sculling down on the river, playing badminton or taking part in athletics.

“Elsewhere, our Pupil Instructors were leading the Year 9’s who were scattered throughout the campus: kayaking on the river, building rafts in the swimming pool, pioneering, navigating and developing their team building as part of the weekly Ely Scheme.

“I am a firm believer in balance, and it has been lovely to see so many of our hardworking pupils having fun outdoors. It is good to be back.

“All the very best.”
