“WHILST there have been many things for the grown-ups to consider at King’s Ely Acremont and Nursery this week, the children in Pre-Prep have gone about their playtimes, lessons and rehearsals with energy, commitment and typical good cheer.

“It has been wonderful too to see our Nursery children, who have quickly embraced the home learning opportunities sent to them by the Nursery team, who are working from home. You have certainly been busy children!

“It has been a week of fast moving and fluid events, and so I am pleased that I am now able to report to you a period of a few calm and steady days. We hope that this remains the case so that we may re-open the Nursery on Monday 30th November. Our Nursery Practitioners who are unwell receive our best wishes and hopes for a speedy recovery.

“Life in Pre-Prep has been as busy and creative as always. The staff, however, are very mindful of events and are ensuring, in addition to the enhanced cleaning regime, that handwashing, social distancing, adult face coverings and good ventilation are carefully adhered to.

“Whilst working from home, it was delightful to be able to join the children and staff in our weekly Celebration Assembly. Although dogs do not come into the Pre-Prep as a rule, it was a fun surprise to introduce my dogs to the children via Zoom! It was uplifting to see the smiles, chatter and engagement of all of the classes, listen to their ‘best bits’ from the week, join in with the congratulations to those who had displayed real kindness and hear why certain classes should have the Learning Habit Creatures in their classroom.

“Finally, I would like to offer my sincere thanks to parents who have had to quickly change work plans and come to terms with the arrival of this virus. Thank you to the Medical Team for their swift action and advice and to all our staff at King’s Ely Acremont Pre-Prep and Nursery, both those in the classroom and those at home, for their professional, calm and supportive presence this week.

“I wish you all a peaceful weekend and very much look forward to both Nursery and Pre-Prep being together again soon.”
