We think that we might have some potential competitors for ‘The Great Pottery Throw Down’ in our midst!

In After School Pottery Club at King’s Ely Junior on January 31st, our Years 7 and 8 pupils were having a whale of a time making clay mugs, vases, and pencil pots. There were also some intricate owls and penguins being made, and a rather intimidating cobra.

This club is run by Liz Topping, who teachers Art and Design Technology at King’s Ely Junior. Mrs Topping runs Pottery Clubs for our younger pupils too.

King’s Ely Junior has its own pottery kiln, so the students’ creations will be put into this, and then glazed ready for them to take home with them.

King’s is renowned for its holistic ethos, and this is reflected in the breadth and depth of our co-curricular and extra-curricular offering, both during and after school. Fuelling our students’ interests and enthusiasms, whatever these might be, really helps to promote strong self-esteem and a positive attitude towards learning and development.
