Our 2026 King's Ely Prep Prizegiving Ceremony was as splendid as ever!

Hundreds of students, staff, families, governors, and friends of the school packed inside Ely Cathedral for the annual event, which celebrates the achievements, endeavours, and contributions to school life of our pupils in Years 3-8.

'Achievement Prizes', 'Contribution to School Life Prizes', and 'Commitment to Learning Prizes' were awarded to a number of students in each year group. There were also 'Year 6 Major Academic Awards', 'Year 8 Major Academic Prizes', 'Year 8 Heads of House Prizes', 'Head's Special Achievement Awards', and a whole host of subject and specialist awards, including 'The Science Prize', 'The Ferraby Essay Prize', 'The Anthony Lowery Memorial Prize for History', 'The Art Portfolio Prize', and 'The Shippey Cup for Mathematics', to name just a few!

Our fabulous Year 8 Heads of Prep Day and Boarding Houses spoke eloquently about some of their fondest school experiences and memories, and there was a spine-tingling performance by our 2026 Young Musician of the Year, Sterling. 

As is custom, the music during the service really was outstanding, with thrilling performances by Prep Jazz Band, King's Voices, Prep Brass Ensemble, Ely Cathedral Choristers, and Prep Chamber Orchestra.

Mr Simon Kibler, Head of King's Ely Prep, said: "Today (July 1st), we assemble to recognise not only those receiving awards and prizes, but also the many pupils whose daily efforts and quiet personal triumphs have shaped them into fine upstanding members of our school community. There have been countless moments of kindness, courage, compassion, and integrity displayed daily by our wonderful pupils, and all are worthy of recognition and praise. Our values are lived out in classrooms, rehearsal spaces, playing fields, and in the small everyday interactions that define our thriving school community.

"It has been fulfilling to witness the personal development of our Year 8 pupils over the past year, some of whom have held leadership roles. They have grown into confident and articulate young teenagers, many of whom began their journey with us years ago, some even since Acremont Pre-Prep. As they prepare to move on to Senior School, we celebrate all they have contributed and wish them every happiness and success in the years ahead of them.

"Thank you to all our families for your ongoing support and faith in the school, and to our wonderful staff team, whose dedication and care make all this possible. Above all, thank you to our pupils, who have brought energy in abundance, curiosity, joy, and purpose to the academic year. I hope you all enjoy a memorable summer holiday!"
