Keira to study Art and Design at Loughborough University

August 2025

Keira will be studying Art and Design at Loughborough University after achieving the A-Level grades she needed.

Keira will be completing a Level 3 Diploma in Art and Design before specialising in one of Loughborough’s design degrees in September 2026.

Keira joined King's Ely Prep in Year 6. She studied Textiles, Geography, and Politics at A-Level.

When asked what she plans to do career wise, Keira said: "I would love to be a colour and material designer after University, either working on boats or in the automotive industry."

To describe King's in three words, Keira chose "unique, nurturing, inspiring".

Keira said: "I found the teaching at King’s to be highly interactive, which really helped me gain a deeper understanding of what I was studying. Teachers were always approachable, and especially during exam season, they made themselves available outside lessons. Whether it was through quick email replies or arranging in-person meetings, support was always easy to access. I believe this combination of interactive teaching and strong support, alongside my own independent study, played a big role in helping me achieve the grades I wanted."

When asked what she will miss most about King's, Keira said: "I will miss the diverse opportunities available and the outstanding facilities. During my time at King’s, I participated in a multitude of extra-curricular activities. I enjoyed Rowing in Years 8 to 11, and competed in many regattas, including Bedford. I also regularly took part in school Swimming galas, both home and away, reaching the IAPS National School Finals at the Olympic Pool in London, and setting multiple school records in House Swimming at the end of each Summer Term. To continue my passion for Swimming, I now work as a qualified lifeguard and swim teacher over the summer holidays at Seahorse Swim School, which operates from the King’s swimming pool.

"In addition to Sports, I was also active in the school's Drama and Art Departments. I was a finalist in the Stitch Design Festival at the Business Design Centre in London in Year 12, and in Year 13, I performed in a friend’s EPQ play. I further completed the Bronze, Silver, and Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Awards, receiving my Gold Award at Buckingham Palace in May this year."

When asked what she would say to a prospective student or parent who is considering King's, Keira said: "King’s is a school where tradition meets opportunity, offering students an inspiring environment to thrive, both academically and personally. With its gorgeous setting beside Ely Cathedral, a strong academic track record, and unique experiences like Ely Scheme, it helps students grow in confidence, character, and creativity. If you are looking for a school that nurtures individuality while building resilience and community, King’s is definitely the place to be."

Congratulations Keira - enjoy Loughborough and keep in touch!
