Clelia will be studying Modern Languages and International Relations (Spanish) at the University of Leeds after achieving the A-Level grades she needed.
Clelia joined King's Ely Sixth Form in Year 12. She studied Spanish, French, and Politics at A-Level.
When asked what she plans to do career wise, Clelia said: "I am not entirely sure yet, but I know that I want it to be related to my course in Modern Languages and International Relations. I love learning about different cultures and travelling so I hope to pursue something that allows me to combine these interests, whether that is international work, diplomacy, or a global organisation."
To describe King's in three words, Clelia chose "supportive, inspiring, inclusive".
Clelia was a boarder in Hill House, which she describes as being one of her "most memorable experiences".
She said: "Living in Hill House allowed me to make friends with people from so many different backgrounds and cultures, creating a close-knit community and lifelong memories. My Housemistress, Mrs Jackson, along with my teachers and other boarding house staff, provided guidance whenever I needed help, both academically or personally. They listened attentively, offered advice, and gave encouragement during stressful times. This support enabled me to focus on my studies while also enjoying a balanced and fulfilling boarding experience."
When asked to describe the teaching and learning environment at King's, Clelia said: "The teaching was exceptional, engaging, passionate, and highly supportive. My Politics Teachers, Mrs Jackson and Mr Thomas, always encouraged me even during times when I struggled with the subject. Their positive energy and dedication helped me to overcome challenges and reach my potential. In Languages, my Spanish Teachers, Mr Megas and Mrs Lorente, made lessons feel exciting and interactive. They did not just teach, they brought the culture to life through music, films, and debates, which made learning fun and meaningful. My French Teachers, Madame Bousquet, Monsieur Pinier, and Madame Bennell were incredibly supportive as well. Even though French is my first language, the course was challenging and their encouragement, patience, and creative teaching methods made it enjoyable and helped me thrive. All of my teachers genuinely wanted me to succeed, and I always felt motivated and supported in every lesson."
Like the majority of students at King's, Clelia also took full advantage of our bustling co-curricular and extra-curricular scene.
She said: "I played Tennis, both in the school club and through private lessons with Mr Scaux, which were incredible and helped me to improve my skills significantly. I also played Netball, enjoying the teamwork and competitive spirit of the sport. I also enjoyed representing my House and the Languages Department, particularly when speaking in the Cathedral. These opportunities helped me to build confidence in public speaking and share my culture as a French international student. I participated in school socials and events, which were always fun and positive, allowing me to connect with others, celebrate diversity, and take part in the wider school community."
When asked what she will miss most about King's, Clelia said: "I will miss the sense of community at King’s the most, especially boarding life, where I met amazing friends from all over the world. Staff are dedicated and passionate, and the community is welcoming and diverse. The school made learning fun and meaningful, and the supportive environment created countless unforgettable memories. Boarding life adds a rich cultural experience and opportunities for public speaking, sports, and extra-curricular activities help students grow in confidence and character. The combination of rigorous academics and a supportive environment make King’s truly special."
Congratulations Clelia - enjoy Leeds and keep in touch!
