Syrah will be studying Fashion Marketing at University of the Arts London after achieving the A-Level grades she needed.
Syrah joined King's Ely Prep in Year 7 from her village primary school. She studied Fine Art, Textiles, and Psychology at A-Level. Syrah also completed an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), investigating the impact of microplastics on the fashion industry.
When asked what she plans to do career wise, Syrah said: "I plan on pursuing my interests in couture branding, expanding fashion marketing further, PR, and growing into business management."
To describe King's in three words, Syrah chose "encouraging, inspirational, enabling".
When asked how well supported she felt during her time at King's, Syrah said: "There were many people who supported me, but Ms Godde helped me consistently throughout my years of being in Withburga House, and I will be forever grateful for that. King’s offered me a flexible style of teaching that was suited to my needs. I particularly enjoyed Mr Ward's style of teaching; he took the time to get to know me and understand me, which gave me confidence and enabled me to deliver my final year's work at my full potential. Mr Quinn offered much time outside of lessons to listen and help me through my course, which was greatly appreciated too."
Syrah was a keen rower during her time at King's. She said: "I enjoyed participating in many of the House activities at King's, but Rowing was what I enjoyed the most. I loved being out on the river and being able to see the Cathedral from far away. Even though I did not engage in the competitive side of Rowing, I still enjoyed being out on the water every week and experiencing it with my friends."
When asked what she will miss most about King's, Syrah said: "I will miss the friendships I built and the teachers who supported me. I will especially miss the opportunities King’s was able to provide outside of lessons too, specifically the 2023 Kenya Trip. I made memories on this trip that will last a lifetime!"
Congratulations Syrah - enjoy London and keep in touch!
