Our Reception pupils at King's Ely Acremont Pre-Prep were in their element exploring some of the gardens over at King's Ely Senior and Sixth Form!
As many of you will know from recent posts on our socials, one of our Reception classes' topics this term is 'Superheroes in our Community'.
The children have met local PCSO, Magdalena Harvey, they have visited Ely Fire Station, they have been to the school Medical Centre to meet our fantastic nurses, they have thought about superheroes in their own home, and they have also met members of our Gardening Team, who we are sure you will agree, are superheroes too!
Mr Lee Yearn and Mr Jake Northfield were on hand to show the children around our beautiful Old Palace Gardens, including Clara's Garden, the 360-year-old Great London Plane Tree of Ely, and the magnificent pond, where Malcolm the Duck and his friends, and the fish, were only too happy to be fed.
The children enjoyed spotting the wind chimes dotted around the gardens, and scooping up as many leaves as they could find. They also visited the Gardeners' Yard, where Mr Yearn and his team grow thousands of flowers and plants each year to then display in the school grounds and areas around Ely, such as Barton Square.
As the children left to return to Acremont House, they were each presented with a winter pansy to take home with them to plant in their own gardens. Thank you to Mr Yearn and Mr Northfield for such a fun and informative afternoon!
