Laura achieved the A-Level grades that she needed to study History at the University of York.

Laura joined King's Ely Senior in Year 10 from another independent school in Cambridgeshire.

Laura studied History, Fine Art, and Politics for her A-Levels. In Sixth Form, she was appointed a Queen's Scholar.

We caught up with Laura after she received her A-Level results to find out more about her King's experience and what her next steps are...

Laura, what career path do you plan on pursuing?

I am not too sure what career path to pursue yet. I might stay in further education and do a Masters, and I am also interested in a Law conversion after my degree. I am looking forward to exploring more options at University!

What is the quality and style of teaching like at King’s?

My teachers went above and beyond to support me, especially during exams and the application process to University, offering many class revision sessions and one-to-one help to secure my understanding. 

What else did you participate in during your time at King’s?

I participated in Rowing and Music, including Concert Band and Flute Choir. I also enjoyed working backstage for school productions, such as 'Legally Blonde' in Year 10. I enjoyed attending History Cafe and An 'Other' Club later on in Sixth Form. During Sixth Form, I also had the privilege of being a Queen's Scholar, and I enjoyed participating in School and Cathedral Services.

Do you feel that you have been well supported pastorally at King’s?

The pastoral support is very good at King's! I felt like I had multiple teachers who I could express any concerns to. 

What will you miss most about King’s and what did you enjoy most during your time here?

I will miss the school environment and scenery. I most enjoyed doing extra-curricular activities, especially going to History Cafe and An 'Other' Club.

In what ways do you think King’s is unique or special compared to other schools?

I think King's is unique because of its environment and location. Ely is a lovely place and the school reflects that. The quality and care put into teaching at King's is also special compared to other schools, in my experience.
