King's Ely OsFest 2026 raises record-breaking amount of money for charity

April 2026

We are thrilled to announce that King's Ely OsFest 2026 has raised a record-breaking amount of money for charity!

OsFest, which is our annual summer fete-style fundraising event, was supporting the Arthur Rank Hospice Charity this year, and thanks to your support, we raised more than £4,300 on the evening.

Hundreds of pupils, families, staff, Old Eleans, and friends of the school - from Nursery right the way through to Sixth Form - came together on New Field for the fun-filled fete on April 24th.

OsFest takes place every Summer Term, and is organised by students and tutors in Osmond House - one of our Senior Boys' Day Houses - with the support of Housemaster, Mr Paul Lott.

This year's stalls and attractions included giant inflatables, 'whack-a-mole', 'test your strength' challenge, 'fishing for a bottle', live music from OsBand, 'sponge the teacher', a coconut shy, a bouncy castle, 'beat the keeper', a rowing ergo challenge, face painting, raffles, a barbecue, candy floss, and refreshments galore!

The ever-popular heats of the Senior House Tug-of-War Competition were won by School House for the Junior Boys, Withburga House for the Junior Girls, Osmond House for the Senior Boys, and Torfrida House for the Senior Girls. Neither of the winning student teams were able to beat the mighty staff squads though.

A brave group of male students and staff members also volunteered to have their legs waxed at the event to help raise extra funds. Kudos to them and to all of the teachers who were willing to be sponged, or in some cases, 'bucketed'!

Arthur Rank Hospice Charity (ARHC) supports people in Cambridgeshire who are living with an advanced serious illness or other life-limiting condition, and those who need end of life care. The charity cares for over 3,800 patients each year at its hospice in Cambridge, the Alan Hudson Centre in Wisbech, and across the Fens in patients’ own homes.

In February many of you will remember that Osmond House raised more than £7,000 for ARHC by taking on their 'Mount Everest Stair Climb Challenge'. Using the staircases in the Monastic Barn, Team Osmond collectively climbed almost eight times the height of Mount Everest, which is 8,848-metres tall, in three hours!

On April 26th, Old Elean, India Thomas, also completed her second London Marathon and ninth marathon in total, raising over £600 for ARHC. You can sponsor India here: www.justgiving.com/page/india-londonmarathon-arhc

Thank you so much to everyone who supported this year's OsFest, and by doing so, helping us to raise such a magnificent amount for charity. Bravo to Osmond House for organising another corker of an event, and kudos to all staff teams across school for their support - Catering, Custodians, Maintenance, Grounds, Marketing, Health and Safety - the King's community at its finest!
