King's Ely Historians visit British Museum and Museum of the Order of St John

January 2026

Only a couple of days into the new term, and our Year 12 A-Level History students enjoyed an educational trip to London!

Mr Colin Currie, Head of History at King's Ely Senior, arranged for the Sixth Form group to visit the British Museum and Museum of the Order of St John to help augment their Anglo-Saxon and Norman England and Crusades courses.

Mr Currie said: "We visited the British Museum, focusing on its Medieval and Anglo-Saxon treasures, including the hoard discovered at Sutton Hoo. We also saw the recently acquired Tudor Heart Pendant, along with many other artefacts and exhibits.

"We then travelled across town to the excellent Museum of the Order of St John, where our pupils enjoyed an interactive artefact handling session and a guided tour of the old priory precinct, including the original medieval crypt."
