Finlay will be studying a Foundation Year in Acting at Italia Conti in Surrey after achieving the A-Level grades he needed.
Finlay joined King's Ely Acremont Nursery in 2010. He studied Drama, History, and Religious Studies at A-Level. Finlay also completed an Extended Project Qualification (EPQ), entitled 'A practical exploration of the performance practices of three practitioners (Stanislavski, Brecht, Berkoff)'.
Finlay aspires to be an Actor, and to say that he was an active member of the school's Drama Department would be an understatement!
He said: "The Drama Department at King's really is on another level compared to departments that I have seen at other schools. The dedication and commitment from all of the staff helps to inspire incredible performances from the students, and I feel that this energy is special to King’s."
Finlay was appointed a School and Drama Prefect. He starred in lots of productions, including 'Radium Girls', which King's took to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in 2024. Finlay was also involved in a multitude of open mic nights and masterclasses that our Drama Department organises throughout each year, and he played 1st Team Football for the school.
Describing the teaching and learning environment at King's, Finlay said: "I have never really been very good at the sit-down and revise approach, and most of my teachers catered well to this. In Drama with Mrs Parker and Miss Teager, they helped me to focus and refine my answers to an A* level. Dr Tetley and Mr Foster made sure to prep me with all the crucial knowledge during lessons, to cater to my sub-par studying. My rapport turned out to be one of slight frustration, but a huge sigh of relief on results day! Mrs Wright also did a great job of being my Form Tutor, and I knew that I could have gone to her if I needed to."
When asked to describe King's in three words, Finlay chose "historic, inspirational, ambitious".
Finlay said: "King’s has a great extra-curricular programme that enables students to get involved with so many new opportunities and experiences. I will really miss the energy of the place, especially in the Drama Department and with House Song!"
Congratulations Finlay - enjoy Italia Conti and keep in touch!
