THIRTEEN students and two teachers from Gymnasium Remchingen school in Germany enjoyed an action-packed week at King’s Ely.
It was the group’s first ever exchange visit with a British school after years of searching, and the King’s Ely community was certainly sad to see them go on September 27th.
Head of German at King’s Ely Senior, Neil Urwin, who organised the exchange trip, said: “They were amazed by our school and what we offer, and thoroughly enjoyed the cathedral services they attended. They spent days in Hunstanton, London and Cambridge, and for most of them this was their first trip to England. We are now looking at dates for the next exchange and more information will follow in due course.
“We are hoping that this will become a long lasting partnership and that many more students will benefit from the experience of spending some time in Germany, improving their language skills and learning about the culture and seeing some of the most beautiful places in their country.
“Special thanks to all of the families who hosted one or more of our German students, and for their help in organising group activities and meals over the weekend and on their last night here. I would also like to thank Mrs Newman and Mr Thomas again for their support.”
