‘The Science of the Sea’ is the theme of our British Science Week celebrations this year.

Ned Kittoe, our Head of Science, and his team have organised an action-packed programme of events and activities to take place throughout this week, involving students in King’s Ely Junior, Senior and Sixth Form.

Today (March 13th), we welcomed Marine Biologists, Christine Scott and Martin Collins, into school to speak to students about their fascinating studies and careers. These two talks involved students in Years 9, 10 and 12.

After school, Russell Arnott from Incredible Oceans – WhaleFest, then hosted our Round Table Lecture, entitled ‘Under Pressure’.

We have nine different visiting speakers joining us this week, all themed around ‘The Science of the Sea’, and the majority of whom have a personal connection to King’s, including several parents and Old Eleans.

As well as speakers, we have the Osmond Lecture, a Science Fair, a Film Night, student and staff quizzes, and a fantastic daily live feed of the sea being screened around school. Today, the live feed was from North Carolina!
