TEENAGE violinist Yuki Kimura was the star of the night at the Ely Sinfonia concert at Linton Village College on Saturday (26) after delighting the audience with her performance of the Bruch Violin Concerto.

Aged just 15, King’s Ely student Yuki played the entire solo from memory to an exceptional standard.

Head of Strings at King’s Ely, Helen Medlock said: “Playing a concerto with an orchestra at such a young age is a remarkable achievement.

“Yuki played brilliantly and all from memory, and somehow managed to look very calm and collected, despite the fact that it was extremely warm and stuffy in the hall.”

Deputy Head of King’s Ely, Felicity Blake said: “Yuki joined King’s Ely aged 11 having only had a few proper music lessons. She now is able to stun audiences with her playing, while enjoying all aspects of life at the school.”
