Our son Toby joined King’s Ely in year four and it certainly brought the best out of him. The school gave him confidence and broadened his enquiring mind. He had not stepped into a boat before but when he was offered rowing as one of his sports he started to excel and this helped him with his studies. He immersed himself in the full life of the school and achieved great success at both national and international level within his sport.

However this would have been very difficult to continue within the latter years of senior and sixth form due to a change in our financial circumstances had King’s Ely not helped us with a bursary and a scholarship. This enabled him to have continuous schooling without interruption during what was already a difficult time. We cannot thank King’s Ely enough for their generous assistance. We would encourage anyone who is able to help other students who may suffer similar trials to donate towards the schools bursary fund however small as it may make the difference as in Toby’s case.
