CHILDREN from Reception at King’s Ely Acremont have been learning all about horses this week as part of their topic on farm animals.

As well as lots of fun activities in the classroom, the children visited Phantom House Stables in Newmarket where they saw the racehorses being worked. They also helped feed the horses and got to try on real jockey silks.

The grey racehorse, Argent Knight, was a particular favourite, and five-year old Jodie was thrilled to hear that there was a horse there called Jodie’s Jem!

Racehorse trainer William Jarvis, who owns the stables, said: “I really enjoyed showing the children around the yard and was impressed with the interesting questions the children asked and how well they behaved.”
